The patterns are first shown in a simplified manner and then in a slightly more complex manner. This spices it up a bit by simply adding a few eight notes and sounds a lot more professional. The chords are literally spelt out to avoid confusion - as in "use a C for 'Cat' chord" to avoid errors.
