Metallica - Seek And Destroy (pt2) Video In this video, we look at the second set of riffs to Metallica's Seek and Destroy. Ok we're onto riff 5 and onwards (if you missed any go to the Metallica - Seek And Destroy (pt1) Video). There's even a bit of singing on this one above from Mr. S. Great teacher and player that man!

Ok we were talking about using a metronome properly. This is a very important point, and if followed and used correctly, it will a real positive effect on your playing.

As stated start off with a very slow speed to get going. To find the correct speed, sing the riff or whatever it is you are working on in your head, and tap out 4 beats to suit it. Set the metronome speed to the same speed. Just count it 1 > 2 > 3 > 4 > 1 > 2 > 3 > 4 ....

Now pull the speed right down (take note of the correct song speed in your head or better still write it down - make a little collection and use it for practice purposes).

Now play the riff along with the metronome at this slow speed. If you are making mistakes the speed is too fast, pull it down by say 5. Keep doing this until you find the speed you can play at comfortably WITHOUT MAKING ANY MISTAKES!!!

This is the key to using a metronome properly. If the speed you choose is too slow, well speed it up in small stages until you have a rough speed and then find the exact one. This may change a bit from day to day depending if you are warmed up and so on.

Now when you have the tempo you can play at without making mistakes, speed up the tempo by 1 notch. Stay on that until it's perfect. Then up another until it's perfect and so on. If you start making mistakes at any speed, drop the tempo back and work on that speed until it's perfect. ONLY when it is, go up to the next speed.

Don't be tempted to play at a fast speed with mistakes, it will hold you back.

Let's go to Metallica - Seek And Destroy (pt3) Video, and check out the last of the Seek and Destroy riffs. Nearly there!
